Seniors join with Backpack Buddies

Resurrection Catholic School senior class has found a passion for service! This school year they have adopted Backpack Buddies of Pascagoula as their senior service. After visiting one day to help pack food for the children in their community, they returned to campus ready to do more for the charity. They raised close to $2,000, and they have dedicated time weekly to help pack food and deliver to the different schools. Backpack Buddies provides food for approximately 300 students in our community every weekend. They survive solely on donations and volunteers. Colleen Larsen, school nurse and Backpack Buddy volunteer said, “I am so grateful to these young people. and their teachers. They walked in and took over. Together they packed over 200 bags in an hour and asked what else they could do to help. They are saving me so much time and stress, and I can see their desire to serve others in their heart. It is refreshing.”
