ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT: Beverly Larsen Fuss, OLV Class of 1956
By Caroline Purdy, Class of 2025
Beverly Larsen Fuss is an alumni of the OLV Class of 1956. Beverly currently lives in Maryland, but was born and raised in Pascagoula, where she attended OLV with many of her siblings and family members. After high school, Beverly attended Perkinston Community College, where she majored in Secretarial Science. She then worked as a secretary at Keesler AFB in Biloxi, MS. Bev then became an American Airlines Stewardess based in Chicago, IL where she met her husband, Jim Fuss. Beverly and her husband were married at OLV and had three children: Suzanne, Jimmy, and Amy. After having kids, Beverly spent her time taking wedding photos at over 300 weddings. She also was a teacher at her children’s schools for 21 years.
Beverly says she has many favorite memories while attending OLV such as homecoming, game days, carnival ball, and parades. “Our senior play was the best”, says Beverly. She loved their midnight Mass pageants and thought they were magical. “All of those events came together to form a bond that continues to this day.” Now, Beverly enjoys seeing her family experience all of the fun things she did during her time at OLV/RCS. “Aunt Bev”, as most of her family know her, has seventeen family members who have attended and currently attend RCS, including many of her nieces and nephews. Due to her family’s great involvement in this school, the family established the Larsen Legacy Scholarship in honor of her parents, Ernest and Pauline Larsen, and her youngest brother, Corky Larsen.
Beverly says, “Catholic education impacted my life by paving the way for a lasting love of God and family. The values and morals, taught by our parents and enforced by our teachers, are lifelong gifts.” Aunt Bev leaves a piece of advice for all RCS students: “Stay close to the Lord, savor the fun, remember the lessons learned, and continue to soar with Eagles!”
