Rising Seniors Phi Ta and Carmann McGee attended the American Legion Auxiliary Magnolia Girls State, a prestigious, week-long program held at the University of Mississippi that emphasizes responsible citizenship, leadership, and love for God and country. Participants learn about the political process by electing officials for all levels of state government and actively running a mock government. Activities are designed to develop leadership and political skills and understanding of governing and citizenship.
Sponsored by the Fortnightly Club of Moss Point, Phi Ta had an especially outstanding week—she was elected State Treasurer and was chosen, after an interview process, as one of only two delegates from Mississippi to serve as a Girls Nation Senator in Washington, D.C.!
