Resurrection Catholic Middle High School is ecstatic to welcome Eddie Burgo to the Eagle family.  Coming to RCS with over 30 years of guidance counseling experience, Mr. Burgo is a welcomed addition to the RCMHS staff.

Since Tuesday, he has jumped right into meeting with students, making second-semester schedule changes, planning ACT Thursdays, sharing senior scholarship opportunities, and getting acquainted with students and staff.

Mr. Burgo is originally from Louisiana and moved to the Gulf Coast in 1991. He ran cross country and track at Nicholls State University and continues to share his passion for running as track/cross country coach.  He received his undergraduate degree in physical education and biology, masters degree in secondary counseling and psychology, and a dissertation away from EDD in Sports Management.  While in college, Mr. Burgo studied abroad at the University of Mannheim and The University of Bremen in Germany.

Mr. Burgo has many goals he hopes to accomplish at RCS, and one of them is for students to get into the habit of passing by the guidance office and checking in for any new information, to ask questions, or just to talk. Mr. Burgo described his first days, saying, “I feel so welcome here at RCS.  While rigorous and fast-paced in the classroom, the overall atmosphere here is peaceful and positive.  I am truly enjoying RCS.”

Mr. Burgo attends St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Gautier.  After attending his first RCS Mass Wednesday, Mr. Burgo stated, “Mass was very emotional.  The kids’ singing was fantastic, and watching the student behavior was remarkable.  I enjoyed my career prior to retirement and will stay in touch with my friends, but I truly feel like this is where I need to be at this time in my life.  Getting closer to God can never hurt.”
