John Murray Receives the 2026 Saint Carlo Acutis Award

Resurrection Catholic School is proud to announce John Murray as the recipient of the 2026 Saint Carlo Acutis Award, recognizing a student who exemplifies the faith, humility, kindness, and selflessness that characterized the life of Saint Carlo Acutis.
John was selected for the way he lives out his faith each day, using his God given talents to serve others and glorify God. One of the most meaningful examples of John’s character is his commitment to sharing his musical gifts with the RCS community.
Although John had planned to step away from the school choir to focus on football, he offered to help provide music for school Masses when the school was uncertain about having a music director. As the need became clearer, John went a step further, volunteering to play at every school Mass and help the new choir director learn the music for the liturgies.
When asked about his commitment, John shared a simple but powerful message: “God gave me a blessing and gift in music, so I need to use it for His glory.”
That spirit of service reflects the very heart of the Saint Carlo Acutis Award. Saint Carlo was known for his deep love of Jesus, devotion to the Eucharist, and desire to use his gifts to serve others. Like Saint Carlo, John understands that faith is not simply something we profess, but something we demonstrate through our everyday actions.
John’s kindness and gentle spirit have also made a lasting impression on his classmates and teachers. He was nominated for the award by numerous students and staff members, who described him as a thoughtful friend, a trusted source of encouragement, and a young man who consistently demonstrates truth, honor, and integrity. His classmates’ respect for him was evident when they selected him to serve as Pope during the school’s conclave.
Coach Sisson described John as “an intentional disciple both in school and on the football field.” That distinction captures the example John sets throughout the RCS community. Whether serving at Mass, encouraging a classmate, or competing on the football field, he strives to let his faith guide his words and actions.
We are incredibly proud of John and grateful for the positive impact he continues to make at Resurrection Catholic School. His humility, kindness, and willingness to serve remind us all of the importance of using our God given gifts for His glory.
Congratulations, John, on receiving the 2026 Saint Carlo Acutis Award! May you continue to follow Christ’s example and share His light wherever life leads you.
