We congratulate Mary Hinman for being named Resurrection Catholic School’s 2020-2021 STAR (Student-Teacher Achievement Recognition) student for the 2020-2021 school year. The STAR program is sponsored by the Mississippi Economic Council’s M. B. Swayze Educational Foundation. STAR students are selected based on academic excellence. To become STAR Student, the graduating senior must have the highest ACT score in the class, the highest set of sub-scores, and at least a 93 academic average.
Mary is the daughter of Dr. Munson Hinman and Kelly Hinman. After graduating, Mary plans to attend Mississippi State University. Mary is a member of the Campus Ministry team and serves as an altar server at Our Lady of Victories Church. Not only does Mary excel in the classroom, but she is also involved in many of our school clubs, such as the National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, Key Club, Interact Club, and Z Club.
Each STAR Student is asked to designate a STAR Teacher – the teacher who has made the most significant contribution to the student’s scholastic achievement. Mary selected Chip Cole as STAR teacher. Mary stated, “I chose Mr. Cole because he embodies everything that a teacher should be. Mr. Cole is kind, caring, and absolutely hilarious. He makes government, a subject that I usually would not care for, interesting and fun. Mr. Cole’s passion for his job is truly inspiring, and I am so grateful to have him as a teacher.” Any student that has been in Mr. Cole’s classroom can attest these statements made by Mary. The relationships that Mr. Cole forms with his students will last a lifetime. Congratulations to Mary Hinman and Chip Cole!
We are proud of the many accomplishments of our students and faculty and enjoy seeing our students reap the rewards from their hard work.
