Resurrection Catholic School (RCS) is proud to share that alumnus Paul Blackwell has signed with Mississippi State University (MSU) to play football beginning next fall.
“RCS helped me prepare for the collegiate level on the field and in the classroom. I would not be where I am today if it were not for my RCS family,” Blackwell said. Blackwell, a 2016 graduate of RCS, is currently in his second year at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College (MGCCC) where he plays long snapper. He has not only excelled on the field, but academically as well, maintaining a 4.0 GPA during his time at MGCCC.
While at RCS, Blackwell was a four-year letterman, All State performer, and a member of National Honor Society. He is the first RCS athlete to go on to play for an SEC football team. RCS is proud to call this distinguished young man, and soon-to-be Bulldog, an Eagle Alumnus. “Paul has been a hard worker since I met him when he was in the 7th grade, both athletically and academically. He was a leader in the school as Senior Class President and a leader on the football team as Captain. Even from a young age I knew Paul would be successful because of his character and fortitude. If anyone deserved it, it’s Paul,” said RCS Football Coach Scott Sisson.
Blackwell, who plans to major in petroleum engineering, received scholarship offers to Southern Miss and University of Georgia before he committed to MSU.
